In the initial stage of root canal treatment, smaller files are usually used, such as SX (for opening the root canal orifice and preparing the crown) and S1 (for preliminary dredging of the root canal and expansion of the crown). As the root canal preparation progresses, larger files such as S2, F1, F2, etc. are gradually used according to the diameter and shape of the root canal. The specific choice should be based on the clinician's judgment of the root canal image and the actual exploration of the root canal to ensure that the root canal can be effectively cleaned without damaging the root canal wall.

The recommended speeds for different models of Pro Taper Rotary Files are different. Generally speaking, the recommended speed for the Shaping series (such as S1, S2) is 300-600 RPM (revolutions per minute), while the recommended speed for the Finishing series (such as F1-F5) is 300-400 RPM. In actual operation, the speed must be set strictly in accordance with the requirements of the product manual to ensure the cutting efficiency and safety of the file, and to avoid instrument breakage or root canal wall damage due to excessive speed.

Pro Taper Rotary Files are made of nickel-titanium alloy and have good flexibility, but they may still break if used improperly. To avoid breaking, first ensure that the root canal passage is smooth and avoid forcibly using the file when the root canal is blocked or the curvature is too large and not fully prepared. Secondly, strictly follow the recommended speed and operation method to avoid excessive force. At the same time, check the wear of the file regularly. If the file is found to be deformed or severely worn, it should be replaced in time.

After use, the files should be rinsed clean of debris and contaminants with clean water, then soaked in a special enzyme cleaner and ultrasonically cleaned according to the instructions for use of the cleaner to remove residual organic matter. After cleaning, high-pressure steam sterilization can be used for sterilization. The sterilization conditions are generally 121°C for 20-30 minutes, or 134°C for 10-15 minutes. You can also choose a suitable chemical disinfectant for soaking disinfection according to actual conditions, but make sure that the disinfectant will not damage the material of the file. The disinfected files should be properly stored to avoid secondary contamination.
